Our Mission:
As the ReReRe Plastics Team, we exist to:
- Encourage the reduction of plastic waste by REDUCING, REUSING, RECYCLING & REFUSING single-use plastics.
- Motivate and educate citizens of all ages to follow current best practices for the reduction of single-use plastics.
Our Vision
In 2020, Phoenixville Green Team and Phoenixville Area Transition launched a joint initiative (ReReRe Plastics) dedicated to reducing waste by promoting the reduction, reuse, and recycling of plastics. Our collaborative mission supports a wide range of local, state, and national initiatives, including:
- Banning single-use plastics in the borough
- Green Schools Alliance
- Break Free From Plastic movement / BFFP Pollution Act
- Rights of Nature movement
We focus on driving meaningful change within the Phoenixville community—especially in local restaurants and schools—while advocating for stronger environmental policies beyond our boroughs.
Impact Snapshot
- The ReReRe Team played a key role in the adoption of Phoenixville Borough Council’s ordinance banning single-use plastic bags and Styrofoam which went into effect in January 2025.
- Participate in the cleanups of trails, Schuylkill Canal, Schuylkill River and French Creek
- Educate the community on the dangers of single-use plastics
- Organize tours of the Total Recycling plant (Birdsboro, PA)
